Here are the step-by-step instructions for replacing the electrode in an Axial 3 plasma torch:

Electrode Replacement Steps for Mettec Axial 3 Torch

1. Power Off & Depressurize

   • Disconnect the torch from the power supply and release any residual air pressure from the system.

2. Remove Consumables

   • Unscrew the torch's front cap (retaining cap) and carefully remove the nozzle.

3. Extract Old Electrode

   • Use a wrench to gently unscrew the electrode from the torch body. Avoid excessive force to prevent damage.

4. Inspect & Clean

   • Check the torch's contact surfaces for debris or oxidation. Clean with a dry cloth if needed.

5. Install New Electrode

   • Hand-tighten the new electrode (Hafnium/Copper type) into the torch body, then secure with a wrench (avoid over-tightening).

6. Reassemble & Test

   • Reattach the nozzle and front cap. Perform a test cut to ensure proper arc ignition and stability.

Note: Always wear gloves to avoid contaminating the electrode surface. Replace electrodes when the hafnium insert is eroded beyond 50%.

1. Our company has been engaged in the production of pure tungsten and tungsten alloy materials for many years, and has an in-depth understanding of the structure and properties of materials. Compared with traditional brazing, joints made by back-casting have higher bonding strength between tungsten and copper, larger contact area, more uniform resistance, and stronger heat dissipation ability, making the nozzle and electrode more stable and more durable as well as long service life.
